WE Thrive Monthly: The Power of Resilience and Community: What Resources are Available for Business Affected by the Carr Fire
Tuesday, August 21 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pmFree
Tuesday, August 21st noon – 1:30 Free
Audra Beylik from the Shasta Regional Foundation will join us and facilitate a conversation on the short-term and long-term recovery efforts after the Carr Fire.
Audra has a unique perspective having served for four years on the Executive Committee of the Long Term Recovery Group formed in the wake of the Boles Fire in Weed, CA. At the time of that fire, she was working for a nonprofit service organization whose office burned down, as did one third of the homes in the community.
From her experience she can share some of the predictable phases of community recovery. Topics for discussion may include: Encouraging patience. How to help. Evaluating needs. How to receive help. Resources for people affected.
Do you have a specific topic or question you want to bring to this discussion? Please include it with your RSVP.
The devastation and shock of the Carr Fire continues to effect Redding families and businesses, and it will for some time.
How can women in business help each other?
During our August WE Thrive Event, Joy Taylor, Director of the Women’s Business Center, will facilitate a conversation on resilience and resources.
While we see the social media tags #strongerthancarr and welcome the many fundraisers and resources available for those in need, many are still seeking personal connection, in-person support.
During the WE Thrive event we will come together for compassionate growth. We will also highlight resources and funding particularly for women in business.
As Mariz Brown, founder of Women of Visions and a WBC client, posted, “We are not victims, we are survivors and we will overcome this.
- The question remains how do we overcome this tragedy?
- How does Redding, as a vibrant business community rebound?
- How do WE, women entrepreneurs in Redding, pull together to support one another?
Resilience is not about masking the pain, loss or fear. It is about becoming intimate with our feelings in order to heal them, not hide them.
Are you experiencing grief, anger, confusion?
That is natural. Learn how to feel and heal the emotions that surround trauma.
Find balance in helping yourself, your family, your employees, and your community.
Understand why getting back to business is important, and equally true becoming present with your feelings is how deep recovery restores you.
We welcome all women in business to join our community for collaborations, connection and relevant content.
