The JEDI Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program is open for business!
We have a strong core of certified volunteers trained and ready to go this year with over 40 years of experience preparing taxes and 7 new volunteers joining the team! That means we can expand our services to a second location in Yreka and accommodate all your tax needs.
The VITA Program is designed for basic tax returns for low-to middle income taxpayers and seniors. If your return falls outside the scope of the basic program, we can assist you to file your own return using a free file version of our software. You “man the mouse” and we guide through the data entry. Certain returns which include self-employment, rentals and more complicated investments would be suited for the Facilitated Self Assistance. Let us know if your return falls into that category and we can set up a time to meet with a volunteer who can help you.
Otherwise, we use the “Drop Off” method for tax preparation. Drop Off and Pick Up on the dates listed below.
In Mt. Shasta, drop off your tax documents at the JEDI office, 205 Chestnut St. every Friday afternoon from Jan. 31st – Apr. 3rd, 2020 between 1:00 and 4:00 pm and pick up the completed return one week later on Friday morning between 9:00 and 12:00 pm. Drop Off and Pick Up includes a 30-minute Intake/Interview and a 30 minute Pick Up/Quality Review.
